Opening Ceremony of the 3rd PolyU Chinese Culture Festival
cum
Unveiling Ceremony for Lam Tai Fai Amphitheatre
The Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) Chinese Culture Festival is one of the University’s signature annual cultural events. Through a rich array of activities, the festival celebrates and promotes Chinese culture, nurtures students’ sense of national identity, and deepens the younger generation’s understanding of the Nation, thereby fostering a stronger sense of pride and belonging.
The third PolyU Chinese Culture Festival will further strengthen collaboration with provincial and municipal governments as well as relevant institutions in the Chinese Mainland, joining hands to advance the heritage and innovation of Chinese culture. The festival will be launched on 24 March 2026, with its first major event titled “A Window onto Vast Vistas: Master Writers’ Hong Kong Traces”. Organised by PolyU with support from the Chinese Writers Association and the National Museum of Modern Chinese Literature, this two-week event will feature exhibitions, lectures, and workshops that explore the deep cultural and literary connections between Chinese literature and Hong Kong from multiple perspectives.
On the same day, PolyU will also hold an unveiling ceremony for Lam Tai Fai Amphitheatre. The newly enhanced venue is designed to host a variety of events, further strengthening connections among staff, students, alumni, and the wider community, while fostering cultural exchange on campus.
Following the opening and unveiling ceremonies, a guided tour of the exhibition “A Window onto Vast Vistas: Master Writers’ Hong Kong Traces” will be held. The exhibition highlights six prominent modern Chinese writers — Lu Xun, Xiao Hong, Mao Dun, Ba Jin, Jin Yong, and Liang Yusheng — showcasing precious manuscripts, letters, and other archival materials. It also features a special reconstruction of the study rooms of Ba Jin and Mao Dun, allowing visitors to experience, in an immersive setting, the literary masters’ connections with Hong Kong and their values and spirit. Through this experience, the exhibition seeks to deepen the public’s emotional connection with the nation’s history and culture.
